Ambassador Isola Mourns Olurin, Sends Condolence Letter to Yewa Paramount Ruler

The Nigeria High Commissioner to UK, His Excellency Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola has sent a condolence letter to His Royal Majesty Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland on the death of General Tunji Olurin, an illustrious son of Yewaland and Ogun State in general.
In the condolence letter, Ambassador Isola said, the late General lived a highly eventful and fulfilled life.
The letter reads: “On the exit of a highly illustrious son of Ilaro, Yewaland, Ogun State, Nigeria, ECOWAS, Africa and indeed a citizen of the world.
“General Olurin lived a highly eventful and fulfilled life. He displayed a strong grip on his beats, showing discipline, loyalty, capacity and character.
“He held a torrent of appointments and responsibilities assigned to him during his military career and even thereafter. He was among others, Commander 1st Mechanised Brigade, Minna, General Officer Commanding 3rd Mechanised Brigade, Jos, Commander, Nigerian Troops in the United Nations Peace Keeping Force in Lebanon, UNIFIL; General Officer, Operations, Army Headquarters and Field Commander, ECOMOG Peace Keeping Force in Liberia; Member of the Apex Ruling body in Nigeria Armed Forces Ruling Council.
“As a military Governor of the Old Oyo State, General Olurin displaced uncommon mettle, brilliance, vision, crisis-management capabilities and rare leadership skills.
“His success must have informed his choice as the Sole Administrator of Ekiti State following the impeachment of Governor Ayodele Fayose and declaration of a slState of Emergency in 2006.
“Adieu to a gallant officer. Adieu to a great, astute and transformational leader. Adieu to a perfect gentleman”.
