Nigeria – The Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Corps I ( ASCI ) Abolurin Oluwaseun, on Saturday, 18th September, 2021, received the Fellowship and Security Ambassadorial award of the Fellow Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies of Nigeria, at a workshop on criminology, security and peace held by the institute at Ikeja Lagos.
The Public Relations Officer, was graciously selected by the Institute to receive the double honour of Fellowship and Security Ambassadorial Award, through his unflinching commitment in managing the image of the NSCDC excellently well in Lagos State.
The institute specially honoured five members at the event with the Security Ambassadorial award.
At the glamorous event, the Public Relations Officer presented a paper titled: “Community and Public relations veritable tools in efficient intelligence gathering in the Nigerian security system”.
Delivering his paper, Abolurin Oluwaseun addressed the menace of insecurity in Nigeria and around the globe with the concept of security and insecurity.
He also x-rayed the types, causes and consequences of insecurity in Nigeria in particular. The paper also focussed on the term ‘intelligence gathering and its conceptual cycles and phases or disciplines as it relates to the use of intelligence gathering efficiently.
The paper also analysed clearly how community and pubic relations can be used to as veritable tools in ensuring efficient intelligence gathering in the security system or network of the nation.
The presentation also largely discussed how the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command has successfully made arrests and sustained the tempo with a robust community and public relations in efficient intelligence gathering, in a bid to ensure am improved security system or network of the Nigerian state.
He said, “with the deployment of community and public relations, an organization or government can spend less and get more results making the tools veritable in efficient intelligence gathering in the Nigerian security system.
Finally, he recommended that organisations and governments can create a public relations trust fund to improve on their community and public relations with the people.
He also said, the public relations section of organisations and government offices should be well empowered and equipped.
Abolurin recommended that there should also be constant local and international trainings for Public Relations Practitioners in an organization or government establishment and many more.
Oluwaseun however, seized the opportunity of the workshop and conferment of the awards to sincerely, appreciate the Almighty God for the award, which he said is a great privilege.
He also thanked the Chairman-in-council of the Institute, who is the former Commandant-General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, CG John Adewale Abolurin rtd, most profoundly for his unbeatable leadership qualities, the Registrar-General Dr S Aderemi Adekunle and the entire Management and Board of the institute, for selecting him as suitable for the double awards.
ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide also thanked the Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Edenabu Douglas Okoro, for his laudable support dedicated the award to God and his family.
He further avowed his unflinching commitment to ensuring that the image of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, in Lagos State Command and beyond will continue to be well managed under his supervision.
