The Permanent Secretary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) Mr. John Odeyemi has charged students to be patriotic and shunned every act of violence that could bring the name of the Nation into disrepute.
According to the TESCOM Press Officer, Adeniyi Akinbobola, Odeyemi gave the charged during the commemoration of event marking the 60th Diamond Jubilee of the Nation by the students of Ijebu Ode Grammar School held at the School Hall in Ijebu Ode.
He said students should emulate the quality characters of our founding Fathers such as Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Enamdi Asikwe, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo among others, urging the students to shun every act of violence that could be detrimental to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
He said the History of Nigeria would not be completed without the active roles played by Ogun State indigene home and abroad, adding that Chief Obafemi Awolowo of blessed memory brought the first television in Nigeria even before England, hence the digiclass that was initiated by the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun was the first in Nigerian
While charging the students to stand for the peace and unification of Nigeria, Odeyemi said in respective tribes, religion or the present challenges, he was very optimistic that the future of Nigeria would be much brighter following the performance of the students.
The event witnessed a cultural display, poem and prayer for Nigeria 60th celebration by the teachers and students.
