The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun revealed this at the commissioning of projects executed by Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Transition Committee, saying the first stage of completion, would capture at least three meaningful projects in each Local Council Area.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said each projects were executed according to the request of the people, urging the beneficiaries to guard and put them into good use, to spur government to do more.
“The Local Government Areas we are having now will be executing over 60 projects in the first stage to complement State Government’s effort, in the provision of social amenities. These projects are to improve and bring comfort to our people and we assure you that more are still coming”, the Governor said.
The Governor noted that Ado-Odo/Ota, being the industrial hub of the State deserved attention, saying the present administration would intensify efforts in facilitating the intervention of the Federal Government in the repair of roads.
In his remarks, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape emphasised the necessity to revamp the Local Councils to deliver more dividends of democracy to the grassroots, noting that the need had prompted the Governor to release grants to Councils to undertake projects.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman Transition Committee, Ado-Odo/Ota, Hon. Wasiu Lawal appreciated the Governor for supporting them in the provision of worthwhile projects in their respective councils, adding that Local Government are relevant and serve as springboard for State’s development.
In his speech, Oba. Lukman Jaiyeola Agunbiade lauded efforts of the State Governor for resuscitating Local Councils with fund for carrying out projects particularly the building of Modern Marriage Registry at Agbara, among others, seeking more of Government’s intervention in road projects.
Among the projects commissioned were, the rehabilitation of Health Centre at Aromokota Eteere, a block of four classrooms with store and offices at Afobaje, Ota, Eight modern lock-up shops at Agunloye market, Ado-Odo.
