Nigeria, Ogun – A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State, who is also Founder of a Non-governmental organisation known as Building Opportunities for Tomorrow, BOT, Barrister Biyi Otegbeye has said one thing that Muslims can do to show reverence to the Holy Prophet Muhammad on the occasion of his birthday is to draw from the virtues of his life, one of which is kindness.
Otegbeye, who made this counsel in a press release issued to mark this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, stated that the occasion provides an avenue not only to extend kindness to fellow Muslims and believers of other faiths, but to demonstrate the values of love, tolerance and understanding between one another.
“I am glad that we are able to witness this year’s celebration. I congratulate all Muslims in Ogun State”, Otegbeye said, adding, “This birthday celebration should be a solemn occasion to remember Holy Prophet Muhammad and reflect on his ideals, as well as follow the instructions in the Holy Quran. Muslims should be their brothers’ keepers and engage in behaviours that glorify Allah and enhance peace and tranquility in the society”.
He used the opportunity to identify with the recent #EndSars agitations by youths across the country, saying that peaceful protest remains part of their inalienable rights.
The renowned philanthropist however urged the youths to be watchful and to guide against their honest and peaceful motives being infiltrated and hijacked by hoodlums and miscreants as sadly witnessed recently.
Otegbeye prayed Allah to show His good countenance to the citizens of the state at this difficult time following the pangs of Covid-19, urging the government to increase its efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people.
