Queen Court Hotel Shooting: Ekiti Police Arrest, Detained Culprit Officer

Nigeria, Ekiti – The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested and detained a policeman alleged to have shot and killed a man named Olaoye Abayomi and injured another person at Queens Court Hotel bar, Ologede area of Ado Ekiti.
This was disclosed on Sunday by the Command spokesperson, Supol Sunday Abutu in a statement sent to Prowling Eagles.
He wrote: “The policeman who was involved in the fatal shooting at Queens Court Hotel for the reason which is still under investigation has been arrested by Ekiti State police command, disarmed and detained for investigation and disciplinary action.
“Ekiti State Police Commissioner, Mobayo Babatunde implores all the good people of Ekiti State to be calm as he will ensure justice prevails”.
It was reported that a police officer in company of other policemen arrived at Queen Court Hotel bar where people were watching a football match around 9:30 p.m between Manchester United and West Bromon on Saturday and after disembarked from the vehicle, he allegedly shot directly at the people.
A bullet hit Abayomi in the stomach and that resulted to his death. Another person was also said to have been hit on the leg in the shooting incident.
An investigation carried out by Prowling Eagles has however revealed the trigger-happy policeman and his colleagues were not serving in Ekiti.
Our findings uncovered that, they were escorts to a prominent retired public figure from the state, who was on a visit his town.
The escorts it was discovered left their principal at home to the hotel where the incident happened.
